Resistive Loads - Choosing the right size TEMCo Rotary Phase Converter
TEMCo's Superior Rotery Phase Converters produce clean, quality three-phase power suitable for most any application. For resistive type loads such as ovens, heaters and spot welders see the sizing chart below. For motor type loads click here. For sizing information to power non-motor applications such as transformer type welders, power supplies, batery chargers, CNC machines, computers, lasers or any three phase need, call us at (510) 490-2187. We will help you choose the right model to power your application.

Resistive Load Application Phase Converter Sizing Guide

  1. What is the Max Output Amps Required for your equipment?
  2. Will your three phase power load be of mixed types such as resistive, inductive and motor loads? If so call TEMCo at (510)490-2187 for additional sizing assistance.
  3. Chose the TEMCo Rotary Converter size that accommodates the power you will need by following the horizontal line to the right. You can always use a TEMCo Rotary Phase Converter that supplies more power than you need now, but one that does not supply enough Amps output will not work.
  4. Be sure you have a large enough single phase supply breaker, if you don't you may need to rewire.   (If you plan to run your TEMCo Phase Converter on a single phase generator, be sure to size your generator at three times the KW of the size of phase converter to accommodate the phase converter's inrush current.  For instance, if you will be using a 6500-5KW Phase Converter, then you would need a 15KW single phase generator to run it on.  If you are running the phase converter on utility supplied power, this does not apply: size breaker as directed above.)
  5. Next select the TEMCo Series 6000 GP or 6500 Rotary Converter model that meets your maximum power requirements: click here.

For larger size motor loads and large three phase loads, TEMCo manufactures larger Phase Converters and Motor Generator Sets.

* Call for further details or specific application questions.
* Remember- using a larger phase converter than you currently need is safe, but one that is too small will not work. Purchasing a size larger will help you plan for the future, in case you need additional power as new equipment is added.
*R = Use this column for resistive load sizing: ovens, heaters, spot welders, etc.
